Baby It’s Cold Outside

Miami has finally started to get a little cooler! Yes we know, sixty degrees is by no means cold, but the cooler weather gives us a chance to use some adorable cold weather clothes.

IMG_7649

I received this adorable and cozy blanket scarf for Christmas! I first saw this scarf on one of my favorite bloggers, and knew that I would love it.

IMG_7650

I’ve always loved scarfs, but I was nervous that since I’m petite a blanket scarf might look a bit overwhelming, but paired with my Joe’s skinny jeans, I found just the right balance!

IMG_7653

This beautiful brown Kate Spade handbag was also a Christmas gift, and all I have to say is wow… Be ready for a post all about this bag because it is seriously adorable and so functional! Well I am off to curl up with a good book and a steaming cup of tea. Happy cold front!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Christmas is truly such an amazing holiday. Although my views may seem archaic and outdated, I truly do focus on Jesus’s birth being the, “reason for the season.” I know that technically He wasn’t born on this day, and that December 25th was originally a pagan holiday, but that doesn’t change what it means to me. Even those that aren’t religious can appreciate the kindness of the season.

IMG_6858

Although it can get stressful, and we can loose sight of what it is all about, the heart of Christmas is giving, and giving is such a beautiful thing. This was the first year I was able to pick out and purchase gifts for my loved one’s on my own, and it was honestly ten times better than receiving gifts. I love my family and friends, and having a day set aside to be able to show the that is so very wonderful. Now that my Christmas soliloquy is out of the way, let’s get to my outfit!

IMG_6843

This New York and Co. Dress (which happened to be a Christmas present!) is absolutely beautiful! It was very Christmasy, but I believe that it would be beautiful for a romantic Valentin’s Day outing, or a, “Galentin’e Day,” soiree! A chunky pearl necklace and my Jack Rogers flats finished off the outfit perfectly.

I hope that you had a magical holiday season, and that you will try to keep the spirit of Christmas all year long!

Farewell Fall!

As it is the first week of December, I realize that it’s time to exchange my Fall outfits for my favorite festive wintery clothes, but before I do, I have to share what may just be my absolute favorite fall dress, as well as the story behind the rustic display in my backyard.

My family’s roots are in rural Illinois, but they have lived all over the world. From India to Spain to South America, and finally, Miami. While my uncle was in town for Thanksgiving, he helped me put up a few items we brought with us from my Great-grandfather’s farm. The hardest part of this project was digging out enough dirt to put the pump into the ground. In the end, it came together wonderfully, and is a beautiful reminder of my roots, and that hard work is always worth it.

Now onto this fabulous outfit! This Lush dress from Nordstrom is sooo cute, and because the material is so light it is perfect for a warm Miami Fall. I did have to tack the front together to avoid a severe wardrobe malfunction, but I adore the keyhole that perfectly frames my monogram necklace. My Jack Rogers flats are the perfect fall flat, and have been one of my favorites all season!

So say goodbye to fall foliage, and hello to the cozy Christmas season!

The Great Pumpkin!

“Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin,” has got to be my favorite fall movie! It makes a fun annual experience something magical, and very, “Charlie Brown.” Over the weekend, I got to visit one of the many pumpkin patches in my area to find my own Great Pumpkin!

theGreatPumpkin2

This adorable scalloped navy dress is comfy enough for a trip to the pumpkin patch, and pretty enough for brunch with friends! It worked perfectly with my Kate Spade bag and Jack Rogers flats.

I have been loving this big bun these past couple of weeks. It’s a perfect hassle free way to keep your hair out of your face while still looking fabulous and put together!

{Fall}ing for Blush

When thinking about fall colors, the usual suspects are Merlot, Olive, burnt orange, and Garnet. Although I absolutely adore the Autumn color wheel, I’m a girl who needs a little pink in her life, no matter what season! So how exactly can we incorporate pink into our fall outfits? One word: blush!

Leaves2

If you haven’t noticed by now, I think this blush trend is basically the best thing ever. I’ve always said that pink goes with everything, and now the fashion industry finally agrees with me! I adore how olive and blush look together, so I knew my Simply Vera skirt from Kohls world work perfectly with my favorite Kate Spade bag.

My fall floral top from H&M tied the look together perfectly! This pair of Jack Rogers flats and this pretty gold laurel headband were just what I needed to complete the look.

Wynwood Food Tour!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in a Miami Culinary Tour of the Wynwood area! For those of you not from South Florida, (or those who like me seldom venture out of their little neighborhood) Wynwood is the hip and artsy section of town. Pretty much every wall is covered in phenomenal street art, and it boasts a young and very cool vibe. I even read an article that called Wynwood a, “Hipster’s Paradise.” Although I would not categorize myself as a hipster, I love art and new experiences, so I was very excited to explore the area! The group I was a part of was asked to meet at the iconic Wynwood Walls, where we met our fabulous tour guide. She gave us a general idea of what we would be eating, as well as a brief but interesting, history of the Wynwood area.

IMG_3342

Our first stop was Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, where we got to try a sampling of some yummy Miami comfort food, which included an empanda, sweet plantains with queso fresco, and a tequeno, which is basically the Venezuelan version of a mozzarella stick! What’s not to love about that?!

IMG_3364

On the way to our next stop, which was RHouse, we learned some more about the amazing art in the Wynwood area, and got to take a peak at the Wynwood Walls. Although I was sad to have to walk away from all of the beautiful walls, I was quickly soothed by the spread that RHouse had waiting for us. There was a yummy Tuna Tartar, and the most delicious slider ever!

IMG_3379

After this, we ventured onward to Pride and Joy. Don’t come into this place expecting anything fancy! This was a very relaxed environment, and on top of some amazing pulled pork, they had some of my favorite oldies playing, which was a nice bonus!

IMG_3382

After this, we ventured to the opposite end of the food spectrum: Ceviche, which is one of my all time favorite foods, and SuViche did not disappoint! It was an adorable little spot, and their classic ceviche lived up to my very picky pallet! From the moment we left this spot, I’ve been dreaming about returning to try some different varieties!

IMG_3396

Although it was difficult to pull myself away from ceviche paradise, our next stop was by far the most adorable stop on this tour! Made in Italy is such an adorable place to sit down for a snack. Although my palate wasn’t quite sophisticated enough for truffle cheese, the presentation was adorable, and the overall atmosphere was absolutely charming!

IMG_3416

After this darling stop, we headed out to Fireman Derek’s Key Lime Pies, which was sadly our last stop. The tour ended on a sweet note with none other than Derek’s famous Key Lime pie! It was such a yummy treat, and the perfect desert for a sweltering Miami afternoon.

IMG_3427

Overall, this was an excellent tour! Whether you are local, or visiting Miami, this is a fabulous way to see the city in a new way, try a variety of local foods, and meet interesting new people!

Lilly Pulitzer All Nighter Shorts!

Even though I’ve been sick for a couple of days, I’ve been soaking up every last bit of summer, and one of my favorite ways to do that is by wearing some fab Lilly shorts! Some of you might remember these fun shorts from my Instagram post (@MsVictoriaAR) celebrating my last day of being a teenager. These shorts were just crying out to be paired with confetti!

All Nighter5

I had been nervous to buy a pair of Lilly shorts because I wasn’t sure how they would fit, or which model I would like. During the After Party Sale however, I finally took a leap of faith and got two pairs of buttercup shorts!

All Nighter1

The first ones I got were in Pink Colony (be on the lookout for a post about those very soon!) and I actually hadn’t seen this pair my first time around. My mom and I had decided to divide and conquer, and she asked me if I had seen, “the flamingo shorts.” I was confused, since she knew that I had bought another pair, but when she sent me a screenshot, I was ecstatic! I love the print, “All Nighter,” and actually preferred it in a pair of shorts rather than the shift since it is a larger pattern.

All Nighter4

I paired these happy little shorts with my breezy and comfy yellow H&M tank, Jacks, and this absolutely adorable Kendra Scott necklace!!

First Day of School

The first day of school has always been one of the most exciting days of the year for me, (once I’ve had my coffee) and this year is no exception! There is something so thrilling about the prospect of learning new things, and meeting new people.

B2S2

I know that not everyone feels the same way. In high school, I used to dread the first day back to school. It wasn’t the classes, or even the teachers, it was my fear of not, “fitting in.” I have always loved learning, and that will never change.  The older I got, the more I realized that there is honestly a social group for everyone. I may have a type-A personality, be choir president, and adore literature, but that doesn’t mean I’m weird, and neither are you!

B2s3

This year, I encourage you to embrace your individuality, no matter how difficult that may be. Believe me when I say the world is so much more than who you hung out with in Middle and High School, or even college! So get out there and learn not just in the classroom, but in everything you do!

Oh Hey, Monet!

This dress has been a go to piece in my closet for a very long time. As an art lover, this dress jumped out at me as a beautiful and unique piece. My mom and I have affectionately dubbed it, “The Monet Dress,” and were so sad when the store we bought it from (Delia’s) closed, but so glad to hear they reopened!

Monet1

Monet is most know for his impressionist art. I was lucky enough to get to see my favorite piece, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, in person. The amazing thing about impressionistic art is that it is all about distance. From far away, it looks like a beautiful and rather lifelike picture, but up close it is merely tiny dots. I believe that it emulates life in a way. Our daily life tends to seem insignificant and mundane, but if we take a step back and examine our life as a whole, we find the beautiful bigger picture to be quite evident.

monet3

Now that I’ve had my artsy moment, let’s get down to why I love this dress! Obviously the pattern is what first called out to me, but the flattering shape is a close second! This dress makes me feel girly, confidant, and oh so pretty! It makes gray days so much brighter!

It is often said that art imitates life, but far less often that clothes imitate art! -PS
