Hopped on the Plane at LAX

This post is the first of many long overdue posts about my adventures in SoCal! I had such a great trip, and have so much to talk about, but I’ll start with my first day. My first day started off with a looong flight and lunch at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

I wore an oversized pink stripped polo and black leggings. This outfit was comfortable, without looking sloppy.

Since we left early in the morning I wore minimal makeup. My tip for traveling is to wear nothing but moisturizer until you are almost to your destination.

Once you do put on makeup, make sure to keep it light. I put on concealer, powder, mascara, and of course, Chapstick. It was perfect for a casual lunch at The Beverly Hills hotel, and a great way to start my adventures in La-la Land!

All About The Ears

As I promised in my last post, this post is all about The Fairy Godsisters! I was lucky enough to find The Fairy Godsisters in their earliest stages. Megan and Erin make some of the prettiest, and most unique ears in the game.

Let’s start off with some general facts about this awesome etsy. First off, this is a family business. Megan and Erin are sisters in law and the cutest BFFs! You can really tell that there is so much love in every headband they make. If quality is a concern for you, have no fear. These ears are sewn together beautifully, and made with high quality products. The ears are stuffed, as opposed to the flatter unstuffed ears many shops make. This honestly made them look so much more, “finished.”

Finally, let’s talk about comfort. Something that is not often taken into consideration when it comes to park ears is comfort. When there are already so many factors that could take away from your comfort levels in play, the last thing you need is an uncomfortable headband squeezing behind your ears. The Fairy Godsisters must have sprinkled magical fairy comfort dust onto their ears, because both pairs were super comfortable. I didn’t have to take a single break all day!!

If all of this wasn’t enough to convince you that these ears are awesome, they’re just down right adorable! The Lilly print  I loved for obvious reasons, but the Briar Rose really took me by surprise. The big tulle bow was such a unique and beautiful touch!

I paired the Lilly ears with a hot pink crop top from Nordstrom Rack, and mint shorts from J. Crew. This cute color combo matched the print perfectly, and was super comfortable!

I took a girlier approach when I was Styling the Briar Rose pair, and really took a cue from Aurora. This sweet bow back dress from Macy’s was a steal at under $20, and looked great!

How do you style your park ears?

I am so excited to tell you guys all about LA, starting with… DISNEYLAND!

Although my heart belongs to Walt Disney World, getting to venture into the original Disneyland was seriously amazing! My Uncle met my mom and I for the weekend, despite having a broken foot. What a trooper! The California hills were not so magical when we had to push his wheelchair up hills, but it was totally worth it for all of the amazing rides, like Hyperspace Mountain and the Storybook Land Canal.

It was an exceptionally hot day, so I opted for this adorable t shirt dress from Nordstrom Rack. It was cool and comfy, and really allowed my ears to shine.

Speaking of ears, these ears from The Fairy God-sisters are soooooo adorable! I actually couldn’t decide which pair was my favorite, so I took both the Briar Rose and Lilly Pulitzer! Now these ears aren’t just adorable, they are super comfortable too. I didn’t have to take a single break from them all day!

I will be doing a whole post about how I style them for a day in the parks, but for now be sure to check out The Fairy God-sisters on Etsy and Instagram!

Have a magical weekend!

Navy Mickey Mouse Dress with a Ruffle Trim

As I’ve mentioned in my last two posts, I absolutely adore the latest LC Lauren Conrad Minnie Mouse collection!

Honestly I was not sure how I would feel about this dress, but once I tried it on all of my doubts melted away. First, lets start off by talking about the fit. This dress has such a flattering fit!

The material is stiff enough to stand away from your body, but light enough to look nice and flowy. For a dressed up look, I paired this adorable dress with some vintage inspired nude Nine West pumps. (isn’t the side detail just darling!?)

My favorite part of the dress is… You guessed it: the details! The print is oh so adorable, and a perfect mix of Disney magic and subtlety. The little ruffles and buttons down the front are stunning, and add just the right girly flair!

This dress is perfect for a day of exploring in the happiest place on earth!

New Disney Dresses!

Besides music, there are two things that get me really excited. Disney, and dresses. Put those two together and I’m the happiest girl on earth!

I will be doing a series of posts on all four of the dresses from the LC Lauren Conrad Minnie Rocks the Dots collection, as well as the Sephora Minnie Rocks the Dots collection. All of the dresses I will be talking about are on sale for about $25.00 at Kohl’s, and with coupons, you might even get a lower price!

Now let’s start by talking about this gorgeous dress! Although the color is called “ditsy red,” it is more of a coral color that leans towards a peachy pink. The color and cut are both incredibly flattering. The combination of the pretty color, adorable Minnie print, and the flattering shape make this comfortable knit dress a perfect park outfit.

I think it would be an adorable option for the Flower and Garden festival, but is fabulous for any spring or summer excursion to the parks!

The little details throughout the line are adorable, including the adorable lace faux Peter Pan collar, and tiny Minnie Mouse print on this dress.

Of course I wouldn’t wear these adorable lace Jessica Simpson heels to the parks, but I would totally wear this in “real life!”

My Thoughts On Easter

Hello everyone! I have been on temporary hiatus, because let’s be honest, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day! Between traveling, auditions, rehearsals and shows I have not been able to make blogging a priority! Be on the lookout for some life updates coming soon, but for now, enjoy this little post about Easter!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, second only to Christmas. Besides the religious connotations, which are very important to me, Easter is all about renewal. There is something about it that serves as a reminder that every morning we wake up and are in charge of who we will be. The possibilities are truly endless!

Another thing I love about Easter, is that it is the holiday of florals! This year I wore this gorgeous Lilly Pulitzer dress that I scored during last summers after party sale. The pink flowers are so beautiful and springy!

I hope that you all had a lovely and relaxing Easter!

Put Some Soul in It!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of taking my first ever SoulCycle class, thanks to the SoulCycle x Target collaboration. I honestly had such a fabulous time!! I was a high-energy environment that really inspired me to keep going, even though it was a really tough workout!

Now I do have one word of caution regarding SoulCycle. If you’re more petite, be ready for some discomfort. Even on the lowest setting, the seat was too far away from the pedals. The positive side of this is that it encouraged me to stay up off of my seat, which is great for your quads! The other area of discomfort was my knees. I got bruises on the inside of both of my knees from repeatedly colliding with the resistance knob. I would definitely ask if there was any way to avoid this if I was to take another class, as the bruises were painful, and wicked ugly!

Now let’s talk about what I wore! I’ll start off by saying that no, I do not usually wear makeup to workout! I do however like to wear some light makeup and a bold lipstick if I am going to be photographed while working out. If you guys would like to know more about my hair and makeup routine to look photo ready, just let me know! Now on to this super cute outfit! I found this adorable and motivational top, and my bright pink sports bra at target! If you are, “well endowed,” up top, I n-would suggest getting a smaller size! My go to leggings are this comfy cropped Nikes, and my shoes of course are hot pink Asics.

So would I recommend you try out SoulCycle? Absolutely! Be prepared for an intense, fun-filled, full-body workout that will shake up how you see cycling!

A Sweet Valentine’s Day Treat!

There is perhaps nothing more decadent than a luscious ripe strawberry dipped in yummy chocolate. Making these yummy treats has become a Valentine’s Day tradition for me. I started by surprising my mom with some several years ago, and last year I made them for my boyfriend. As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I thought I’d share my take on this romantic delicacy.

It is an impressive, delicious, healthy, and oh so easy recipe! To make these treats you’ll need some nice sized strawberries (I would recommend Costco’s!) chocolate melts of your choice (I love the Ghirardelli dark chocolate) and some different decorations! Before you get down to the business of making these yummy treats, I would recommend that you set out some bowls with whatever you may be rolling your strawberries in. Sprinkles will look adorable, and pistachio covered ones are to die for!

Now is where the fun starts! Simply heat up the chocolate in the microwave with a bit of canola oil (that’s what makes them nice and shiny!) One your chocolate is all melted, dip, roll, and repeat! Just one more tip, you should NEVER serve anything that isn’t perfect, so be sure to snack on any that may have gotten messed up somehow 😉 Do you have any yummy Valentine’s Day traditions?

Happy February!

Thankful Thursday #1

I wasn’t sure what to write tonight. I could go on and on about this pretty pink dress, and how it makes me feel beautiful and good about myself, but that wouldn’t be 100% true. No dress can validate your existence. Taking a million pictures till you get the right one does not make you any more or less beautiful. In this blogging journey, I’ve undergone some serious stress over things that just don’t matter. Every time I post a picture, all I can see are my flaws and the pictures that don’t look perfect. Although I am aware that perfection is an allusion, these feelings are still so hard to shake. Unfortunately, these feelings are not unique to me. I know girls who agonize over what to post on Instagram, and while I am all for posting great content, sometimes we need to remind ourselves that our worth isn’t based on how many likes or followers we have. So instead of focusing on my exterior and the clothes I wear, for the month of November I will be writing about the things that make me the person I am. The things I am thankful for.

This week I will start out by writing about the relationships I am thankful for, and I’m not just talking about romance. I of course need to start this off with the people I first forged a relationship with: my family. I am so blessed to be part of a loving, caring family. It is so rare to find someone whose family fully supports their dreams and aspirations, but I have just that! I cannot tell you how very grateful I am that I have never heard, “what’s your backup plan,” from my immediate family when my choice to be a music major comes up. They truly believe that I can succeed at anything if I work hard and set my mind on it.

Now on to my lifelong friends. I have not always been the easiest person to be a friend to, but I have so many wonderful friends who have stuck with me through the ups and downs, and I am blessed enough to have two friends who I have loved for over a decade. In today’s society, this kind of deep lasting friendship is rare. So thank you two for living through our pimply preteen years, first crushes, awkward trends, SAT anxiety, and several moves.

The fact that I have friends who I have known for as long as I can remember doesn’t diminish the friendships I’ve come to be a part of more recently. In the past year I have met so many wonderful and inspiring people that I am lucky enough to call my friends. They challenge me to be better, inspire me to pursue everything with zeal, and reassure me that everything is going to be ok when it feels like the world is falling apart. Thank you for making life more exciting, and for accepting me with open arms.

Finally, I am so grateful for my wonderful boyfriend. He keeps me calm, and brings so much joy into my life. Thank you for helping me understand that despite what other boys have said, I am not crazy or unreasonable for showing my emotions,  for helping me see my beauty even on days when all I can see is the pimple on my face, and for knowing the difference between when I need to talk about something and when all I need is a hug.

I hope that this will inspire you to think beyond the surface and to take time to give your blessings the recognition that they deserve.
