A Procrastinator’s Guide To Disney World!

I have a horrible habit of putting things off till the last possible second, even when it’s something I’m really looking forward to. It’s not that I mean to, but there’s always something that seems more important. Although I looooove Disney, I don’t start planning for a trip until the night before. As an annual pass holder, not every trip needs to be perfect, but these spontaneous trips tend to go wonderfully!  As I am a self-proclaimed Disney Trip Procrastination Expert, I’ll share some of my sage wisdom on how to make a last minuet Disney trip, one of your best ever!

Although you can just hop in your car and spend a day at Disney with NO planning, here are some tips if you’ve got at least a couple of days left before your trip! Decide how many days you are planning to stay and get hotel reservations ASAP! Call around to see which hotels have the best prices, because the best deal differs depending on when exactly you go. Look up what the weather is going to be like, so that you can plan your outfits accordingly! A couple of years ago we decided to head to the parks in November and didn’t pack a single jacket… yikes!

Now that you’ve gotten all the boring details out-of-the-way, it’s time to start having fun! If the weather is nice when you get to the park, I would suggest going on your, “must ride/ do,” first. For me, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is my top priority!

After a ride or two (depending on how late you made it in to the park…) it’s time to figure out lunch! Although you didn’t plan enough in advance to make reservations at that character lunch you wanted to go to, there are still tons of options! During my birthday trip we scored seats at the cute little restaurant in France in Epcot, and the beautiful Be Our Guest restaurant in Magic Kingdom. If you are in the mood for something a little speedier, there are always great choices like Pecos Bill or Casey’s!

Although you didn’t plan ahead for this trip, if you are doing multiple days at the parks you need to prepare for the next few days by staying hydrated. Most people aren’t aware that you can get free ice water from most of the quick service restaurants in all four parks. I’ll usually grab a glass of H2O before hopping in a long line so that I can multitask!

Although in an ideal world we would plan all of our vacations months in advance, it doesn’t always happen that way! Weather you’re planning for a trip in December, or one this weekend, I hope that my little nuggets of wisdom will help you have a truly magical trip!

Disney Tips and Tricks!

Since I am headed out to The Happiest Place on Earth once again with my best friend, Skye, I thought it was high time I did a post about Walt Disney World! Disney is just about my favorite place on Earth:  from the exciting rides, to the yummy food, and the truly magical atmosphere! As a seasoned annual pass holder, I believe it is my duty to share some insider knowledge that I wish I had known for my first trip to Magic Kingdom.

So without further ado, here are some tips to make your trip to The Happiest Place on Earth the happiest it can be!!

  1. If you are visiting any of the Disney Parks for a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, be sure to stop by the guest relations area! They will give you a complementary personalized pin! It’s so fun to get, “Happy Birthday!” from other guests and cast members!
  2. Most of the restaurants will give you complementary ice water regardless of whether you are purchasing a meal or not. While Orlando water isn’t the tastiest, in the summer months, it is vital to stay hydrated. This is good to know because often people will spend lots of money on bottled water when they don’t really need to. Save that cash for some ears!!
  3. Fast passes are awesome! You can have up to three fast passes at a time, so make sure to snag the fast passes for your favorite ride first! (I would personally recommend the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!) If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can schedule your fast passes ahead of time!
  4. Bring ponchos! Yes, they are available for purchase at the parks, but once again, you may want to save your money for more exciting things (like the yummy caramel apples!)
  5. Finally, take a picture in front of the Castle first thing. I know everyone is so excited to get to the rides and start having a magical day, but you will want pictures to remember the magic! You can ask the Disney photographers to take a picture with your camera and/ or phone. Taking the classic castle picture first thing ensures everyone will have smiling faces!
